Dear Parents and Carers,
Good morning, I hope this letter finds you well?
This week the school has been productive with our students seemingly finding the transition back into school relatively positive with some good work being produced in school.
Harrison hits the magic 50!
Our lunchtime walking club ‘The Red-Hot Chilli Steppers’ has continued through the summer term and into the autumn term. This is a well-being initiative introduced and supported by our therapy team. This week saw one of our pupils, Harrison Lassey reach the magic 50 walk milestone. This shows an exceptional commitment to the club, and we all wanted to congratulate Harrison for his efforts and look forward to him reaching the 100-walk mark!
Gardening Club
Our gardening club is moving from strength to strength with lots of our students benefitting from taking part. Anthony Venus, our clinical lead at the school has been successful in applying to the ‘Green Fund’ to secure some funding for the gardening project. Anthony has managed to secure just over £8000 for the school, which we are all incredibly thrilled about. Plans are now being drawn up on how we go about maximising the use of this money.
Fire Safety Visit
On Thursday the 13th of November, we are scheduled to have a local fire engine and their crew come onto site for a combined careers and fire safety visit. This will be a fun afternoon where our students can experience what it is like to be part of a fire crew, learn more about fire safety and get up close to a real-life fire engine. The crew have asked me to explain that this visit is reliant upon them having the capacity to do this, and should there be an emergency then they may have to cancel at the last minute or head off from site on an emergency call.
Support Groups
Sam Hodgson, DSL, has asked that we share the flyer overleaf which advertises various well-being support in the Leeds area.
As always, should there be anything that you need to speak to someone at school about, whether that be advice or additional support, please feel free to get in touch and we would be happy to help.
Best regards,
James Shutt
Headteacher
