Home Our Approach Growth Principles

Growth Principles

Empowering every unique mind to shine, learn, and thrive in a nurturing environment that celebrates diversity, encourages creativity, and fosters independence for a brighter future.

Our GROWTH principles, which stands for: Growth, Respect, Opportunity, Well-Being, Tolerance and Happy, underpin the work we do with our students every day and help us to shape our young people into respectful and tolerant members of society. Living, working and coming to school in a multi-cultural city like Leeds, we know how important such principles are to the moral and cultural awareness of our students and for them to understand the need for acceptance and respect in their daily lives.

The GROWTH principles are referenced daily by our staff with the students encouraged to embody each principle. This can be within lessons, during the school day, in assemblies or whilst sat having lunch with staff.

Growth – Personal, emotional, social

Respect – Being accepting of others and their differences, being respectful to staff and peers

Opportunity – Grasping the various opportunities the school offers

Wellbeing – Knowing oneself, being self-aware, looking out for other students or being kind

Tolerance – Being accepting of others, their beliefs and their choices

Happy – All students deserve to be happy at school

We use the principles as a form of reward for students who are acknowledged when they show one or more of the principles in school, helping our parents and carers to also recognise the holistic development of their child.
