Dear Parents and Carers,
Good morning, I hope this letter finds you well?
This week has seen us move into winter with the temperatures dropping considerably. Please can I remind parents to ensure that their child is attending school with appropriate footwear and clothing for the winter season. This is especially important for the days when they head out on Outdoor Education sessions.
I am hopeful that we will not have a repeat of the inclement weather and ice we faced last year in January but felt it important to remind parents of our protocols should we be faced with a situation where the school site is deemed too dangerous to open to staff and students. Parents, Local Authorities and Transport teams will be contacted via email by school no later than 07.30, this email will be followed by a class Dojo message from teachers to ensure that the message has been received.
Last year we also had several transport teams not travelling after snow had fallen. Whilst we always want to see as many students in school as possible, we also understand that this decision not to travel is not a decision we have any control over.
Important Dates
I wanted to flag with you some important dates and events coming up in December so that you are aware. In our last week of term, we have arranged for some Christmas activities for our students, these involve pantomimes for our younger students, an arts trip to Bradford and a retro gaming visit to a games centre in Leeds. More information is set to come out in due course on these planned trips.
Friday 19th December – Christmas Fair – Parents will be invited in from 10.30 on this day where you will be able to look around the school and see what Christmas gifts the students have made for you to purchase. The school will close that day at 12 pm and you will either be free to take your child home at this time if you attend the event or arrange for the taxis to come early to pick up. We will also let transport teams know of the earlier finish time.
Your child will receive their autumn term report on Friday 12th December and this will be followed with a parents evening on Wednesday 17th December.
Christmas Activities
As we head into the Christmas season, I wanted to share some activities that are happening across West and North Yorkshire that you might want to get involved in with your child or children. I appreciate that this can be an expensive time of year for all families, so we have tried to collate events that are free for people to get involved in. I hope that these are of some use for you and your families.
As always, should there be anything that you need to speak to someone at school about, whether that be advice or additional support, please feel free to get in touch and we would be happy to help.
Best regards,
James Shutt
Headteacher
